My Review
This was an okay read for me. Clementine "Emmie" Hayes was a quiet artsy fade into the background type of girl. Ashton Striling was the bad boy hottie small town rich kid. She wanted the fairy tale and got a huge dose of reality. The relationship became abusive. She finally goes to art school in New York where she becomes roommates with Paige. Paige boyfriend happens to be her hot landlord brother. Emmie feels conflicted about living her life because there's something she hasn't told them. They don't know that she used to be married and the reason behind why she isn't anymore. Will she ever find peace? Do she even deserve it?

Okay so here's the thing I didn't care to much for Em. I found her stuck in adolescent mode. And maybe she was since she only dated and married the one guy from high school. Being in that relationship stunted her emotional growth. However, knowing that didn't help the annoyance I felt with her.

I think all the characters were one dimensional. The book had a storyline that could've dug deeper into the emotions of most of the characters involved. This book just missed the mark. The subject matter begs to be an emotional in depth tearjerker but ended up an awkward - middle of the road romance. Talk about a missed opportunity.

This is a fast pace summer read. I like that there isn't a cliffhanger as there's nothing in the book or about the characters that would make feel like I was missing out if I didn't read book 2.
