2015 Discussion Challenge - Why I Love Street/Urban Fiction

#LetsDiscuss2015

Why I Love Street/Urban Fiction

I hate to say this but street lit is a hard genre for most people to get into and I understand why. Like many other genres it is some what formula-tic. It's a good thing because you know what to expect. You know you are going to get some out of bounds drama. It's a bad thing because you know what to expect. You know that you are going to get designer name drop and characters that look like famous celebrities.

I still love this genre though. I look at is as dramatainment. These books are like soap opera with a street edge. They are in your face books. Some people find that most of the plot are over the top but I find them to be fairly close to what goes on the hood those some things are exaggerated. Like every dude isn't a kingpin. And every kingpin is not young with a chiseled body. But hey, that is why you find this books in the fiction section. I love this genre because it fills my need for drama. I hate drama in my real life but reading about fictional drama is the greatest. It satisfy a need without anyone actually really get hurt. Ummm win-win I say.

  1. So glad you joined us! I have to confess that I haven't read a lot of urban fiction, but I don't mind a little drama now and again. Maybe I should give it a try!
